The corona crisis has far-reaching consequences for society as a whole and thus for the chess world as well. In our opinion, the continuation of the Open Brasschaat 2020 is not only irresponsible, it would also contravene the government measures aimed at preventing large gatherings until (at least) 1 September 2020. Therefore, we cannot guarantee the safety of participants and visitors.
The Open Brasschaat 2020 will definitely not take place. And the organization of the Belgian Championship 2020 will also be cancelled.
We hope to welcome you back in good health in the summer of 2021 for the 20th edition of the Open Brasschaat.
